I was charged €50: what is the unreturned powerbank fee?

How the unreturned powerbank fee works, the 2-day rental window, and how to get the fee reversed if you do return the powerbank later.

If you see a charge of around €50 from Brick, it's almost always the unreturned powerbank fee. Here's what that means and what you can do about it.

What is the unreturned fee?

Every Brick rental has a maximum rental window of 2 days. If the powerbank isn't returned to a Brick station within 2 days, the system treats it as kept and charges a flat replacement fee (typically €50, varies by market).

This fee is what you've been charged. It is not extra hourly rental, it's the cost of the unreturned powerbank.

What to do if you still have the powerbank

  1. Return it to any Brick station as soon as you can. You don't have to use the original station.

  2. Once returned, contact support through the chat in the Brick app or email support@brick.tech. Include your rental date and the station you returned to.

  3. We can reverse most of the €50 fee and charge you only the actual rental time instead.

What to do if you don't have the powerbank

If you've lost the powerbank or no longer have it, the €50 charge stands, that fee covers the cost of the device. No further action is needed.

How to avoid the fee

  • Return the powerbank within 2 days of starting the rental

  • You can return to any Brick station, not just the one you rented from

FAQ

I returned the powerbank but was still charged €50

This can happen if the return didn't register at the station. See our article on "I returned my powerbank but the app still shows my rental as active" for the fix, then contact support to refund the fee.

Why is the fee €50 specifically?

€50 covers the cost of the powerbank, the cables, and the slot mechanism. It varies slightly by market and currency.
