What to do if a Brick station is offline or out of order

How to tell when a station is offline, what happens to your payment, and how to find a working alternative.

Sometimes a Brick station may be temporarily offline or out of order, for example, if the venue lost power or the station lost its internet connection. Here's how to spot it and what to do.

How to tell a station is offline

  • The station screen is blank or showing an error message

  • The slot lights are all off

  • Scanning the QR code doesn't open the rental page, or the app shows the station as unavailable

  • The card reader (if there is one) doesn't respond when you tap your card

What happens to your payment

If a station is offline, no rental can start, so no money is taken from your account. If you saw a temporary authorization hold on your card, it will be released automatically within a few business days.

How to find a working alternative

Open the Brick app and check the map, nearby stations with available powerbanks are highlighted there.

How to report it

If you'd like to let us know that a specific station has been offline for a while, message us through the chat in the Brick app or email support@brick.tech with the venue name or address. We'll get it looked at.

If you have an active rental and the station you want to return to is offline

You can return your powerbank to any Brick station, not only the one you rented from. Pick another nearby station from the map and return there. Your rental ends as soon as the powerbank is inserted into a working slot.
