START HERE: Issues and Solutions

Blinking station? Always do this First

If your station has connection issues (it's just blinking), start by switching the sim card. Take a sim card from a station that's active and insert it in the troublesome station.

List of common issues

Hut / Condo Stations

In-App

In-App Message: "This station seems lost"

Identification / Reason:

  • If you get a message saying "This station seems lost" the station needs to be added to the Dashboard.

  • This message appears when the user scans a QR code that has not yet been added, for instance, if you scan a random QR code with our app.

I have a problem with my Condo / 12 slot station

Before you do anything else, do this:

  • Take a sim card from a station that works and insert it in the troublesome station. If it doesn't connect, you will need to check the configuration.

To configure your station, jump to this section

Only one side of the Condo works

If the station works correctly, but only one side (most likely the left side) lights up, it's because the cable connecting the left and right sides can be loose. Open the station by unscrew the 6 screws on the backside. Find the loose cable and reconnect it

"Condo lost connecting and refuses to come online / restarts when I perform Eject All, Rent, or without particular reason

Identification / Reason

  • Power spike/surge, Condo

Solution - Power spike/surge:

Start with Ejecting all powerbanks. There is a known issue with power surge in Condos when using more than 4pc of powerbanks from batch B04S06, S05B01 and S05B03.

If it restarts when you do Eject all, then it’s confirmed that the above is the issue.

To solve the power surge, insert less than 3 powerbank from the named models or use a 12V10A Power Adapter (the small is 12V5A)

If Eject all isn’t working, use SerialPort Utility and command: “lock:X,1” where X is the slot number between 1-24

If it restarts without powerbanks:

  • check signal strength in the dashboard

  • switch the power adapter

  • add a piece of tape to the SIM card

  • update the firmware

"Lights keep blinking, all at the same time"

Blinking station? Always do this First

If your station has connection issues (it's just blinking), start by switching the sim card. Take a sim card from an active station and insert it in the troublesome station.

Identification / Reason

Solution - NO SIM - Easy:

Small station - 6 slot

How to insert sim card in Small station - 6 slot

  • Metal part up, cut corner towards you.

Medium station - 12 slot

How to insert sim card in Medium station - 12 slot

There are two options of inserting a SIM based on your station type

  • Option 1: No SIM slot

  • Option 2. SIM slot

Option 1: No SIM slot

There's an opening for the SIM slot on the backside of the station, but it's empty.

How to open the Medium station - 12 slot

  • Unscrew the bottom of the station (one screw in the middle slot, covered with a sticker usually) and the back (four or five screws),

  • then you can place the station upright and gently pull the front of the station towards you (you can grab the powerbank slots to pull the front off and towards you).

  • In the panel you'll see a small SIM slot that you can press to unhinge/unlock to take the SIM out.

  • Be mindful of the small cords around where the screws connect to the face of the station, sometimes when you slide it back on there are small black cords that can catch on the plastic slot where the screw goes in.

Option 2: SIM slot

There's an opening for the SIM slot on the backside of the station and you can see a slot for the SIM

From here you can insert a SIM card in the station

Make sure the metal part is facing down

Medium station not connecting, SerialPort log repeats itself

If SerialPort log only reports IMEI (the stations device id) and not the ICCID (Simcard ID), it means that the sim is loose.

Repeating SerialPort Log, IMEI no ICCID

Step 1: Take a piece of tape and put it on the back of the simcard

Step 2: Reinsert the sim and restart the station

Solution - No Reception - Easy:

  • Turn off the station

  • Move the station to reach a stronger reception.

  • Turn on the station again and wait 5 minutes

TIPS: check your phone's reception! If you have 1/5 bars it could mean that the reception is too weak for the station to connect.

Solution - Wrong APN:

If the reception is strong, but the station still blinks like above, please proceed with the solution below.

Make sure to have SerialPort Utility installed and configured correctly. Read how to install and configure the program here

In SerialPort Utility, copy the below command to set the user name:

– – IF YOU HAVE TELE2 SIMCARDS FROM BRICK HQ – –

Copying this command and paste it into Serial Port Utility and send

APN:AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","m2m.tele2.com"

– – – IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN SIMCARDS – – –

Copying this command and paste it into Serial Port Utility. Don't send yet

APN:AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","APN"

Inside the " ", replace APN with your telecommunication provider.

If your APN is internet it should look like this:

APN:AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet"

Well done!

Now restart the station by doing this:

  1. Remove the USB cable first!
This is important since it gives power to the station. If you remove the power cable first, it will not do a proper reboot

  2. Remove the power cable

  3. Insert the power cable again and let the station start

"Lights keep blinking, rolling"

Identification / Reason

Solution - Incorrect configuration of MQTT settings - Advanced:

If the reception is strong, but the station still blinks like above, please proceed with the solution below. Make sure to have SerialPort Utility installed and configured correctly. Read how to install and configure the program here

In SerialPort Utility, copy the below command to set the user name:

Start with copying this command

MQTT:UN:root

Then proceed with the password

MQTT:PW:123456

Lastly copy the server name

MQTT:PK:iot.qvik.app

Well done! Now restart the station by doing this:

  1. Remove the USB cable first!
This is important since it gives power to the station. If you remove the power cable first, it will not do a proper reboot

  2. Remove the power cable

  3. Insert the power cable again and let the station start

"Solid light, offline in the dashboard, Firmware N/A"

Firmware and SIM card ID = N/A,

This means that the station never have been online.

Identification / Reason

  • The station was added after turned on

  • The station ID or the MQTT could be incorrectly configured

Solution:

  1. Restart the station and wait 5 minutes

  2. If still offline, configure the MQTT and ID using Serial Port Utility

Make sure to have SerialPort Utility installed and configured correctly. Read how to install and configure the program here

In SerialPort Utility, copy the below command to set the user name:

Start with copying this command

MQTT:UN:root

Then proceed with the password

MQTT:PW:123456

Then copy the server name

MQTT:PK:iot.qvik.app

Lastly, configure the station ID:

Change ABC123 to the station ID of your station

Well done! Now restart the station by doing this:

  1. Remove the USB cable first!
This is important since it gives power to the station. If you remove the power cable first, it will not do a proper reboot

  2. Remove the power cable

  3. Insert the power cable again and let the station start

"I started a rental but the power bank did not eject"

Identification / Reason

Solution - Faulty slot lock - Medium:

  • Identification: Slot LED blinks, but the powerbank won't unlock.

  • Solution: It could be that the powerbank causes the issue. Run Eject All and remove all powerbanks. If the slot still doesn't not unlock the hardware could be deemed broken.

Solution - Poor Reception - Easy:

  • Identified after scanning a station and getting a successful rental message in the app, and the slot LED does not blink.

  • How to identify if the station has poor reception? Navigate to the station in the dashboard and check which signal strength. See below for examples:

BAD Reception

Signal Strength: <18

OK Reception (Risk)

Signal Strength: 18-22

Good Reception

Signal Strength: <22

  • Solution: Move the station to improve reception

  • Known bugs and Potential side-effects: Initiating a second rental before the first power bank has ejected will cause the station to "lock". When locked it needs to either wait for 5 minutes (1 heartbeat) or be rebooted.

"Powerbank not charging/stuck at the same percentage"

Identification / Reason

Solution - Powerbank not connecting properly - Easy:

  • Eject the powerbank

  • Make sure there's nothing inside the slot stopping the powerbank from connecting

  • Insert the powerbank again.

  • Check if it resolves the issue. If not, proceed with expecting it to be a broken powerbank

Solution - Broken Powerbank - Easy:

How to identify a broken powerbank?

If a powerbank is inserted in a station and its slot LED doesn't light up

  • Eject the powerbank and insert it in two different station

  • If none of the stations recognize the powerbank, then the PCBA board is probably damaged hence why it's not connecting with the station

If the powerbank is recognized but is not charging:

  • Insert it in 2 different station

  • Wait 10-30 minutes, does the battery percentage change?

  • If none of the stations charge the powerbank, then the powerbank is broken

Solution - Faulty slot - Easy:

How to identify a faulty station slot? The LED light doesn't light up even if a powerbank is inserted. Verify by doing the following

  • Empty the station and Insert a functioning powerbank, does it light up?

  • If not, Jiggle the powerbank a bit and wait 5 min

  • Empty the station again and insert another powerbank, does it light up?

  • If not, Jiggle the powerbank a bit and wait 5 min

  • Still not working? Then it can be deemed faulty.

Powerbank stuck at 3% or reversed back to 3 percent

When you insert new powerbanks, they can show up as 3%. Wait for a new heartbeat and see if it updates.

If not, eject the 3% batteries and put them in another station. If it still shows up as 3% after being tested in more than 1 station, then it can be assumed broken

Skyscraper / 48 slot Screen troubleshooting

  1. Screen Backside, overview

2. Right connector, power

3. Left connector, screen / visuals

4. How the left and right cables are connected inside the station

"My screen flickers"

Reason

  • The screen cable is not properly attached

  • The Screen might be damaged

Solution

Start by checking A, and B so they are properly connected, shown in image 4 above.
